NEW CARPET RECOMMENDATIONS
When it comes time to replace your carpet, purchase the best pad you can afford. A good heavy pad will support and extend the life of your carpet. I would purchase nylon carpet for several reasons. It wears well, it doesn't crush like other materials, it cleans well, and looks better longer. It may cost a little more than olefin or polyester, but it's worth the investment in quality. We clean all of them and prefer nylon hands down.
VACUUM, VACUUM, VACUUM
That's the number 1 thing you can do to maintain your carpet. Sand and grit is what will destroy the luster of your carpet faster than anything. A regular vacuuming will remove the sand and grit, greatly extending the life of your carpet. Focus on the high traffic areas. Change your vacuums filter bag frequently. If it's half full, change it.
WALK OFF MATS
Use walk off mats at entrances to remove as much soil as possible from shoes before it gets in your home. This makes a BIG difference in the amount of soil entering your home. Use as large a walk off mat as practical and be sure to clean them on a regular basis.
SPOT CLEANING
Spot cleaning is important. Most spots can be cleaned if attended to immediately. Many carpet cleaning products purchased at your supermarkets work well. Remember to rinse out the cleaner with clean water. If you do not remove the cleaner it can cause yellowing and can also become a soil attractant. When in doubt, call us. We can help you over the phone or remove it for you.
PROFESSIONAL CLEANING SCHEDULE
Have your carpets professionally cleaned on a 12 - 18 month schedule. This will help to maintain the health of your home and will extend the life and appearance of your carpet.
